In response to the "Stimulating Research with International Cooperation Partner Countries (AAT.2008.7.6)" call issued by the EC, the AeroAfrica-EU consortium seeks to leverage and optimise its resources, partnerships and networks so as to promote active and purposeful cooperation between the EU, SA, and as appropriate other African, organisations, researchers and policy-makers, thereby strengthening the competitive position of the European, SA and other African aeronautics industries, and contributing to the solution of global problems of air transport.
- Mapping the aeronautics and air transport landscape in Europe, Africa and in particular South Africa
Various interactions between the EU and SA (and African) partners in all sectors will be collated and analysed.
- Developing and enhancing networks and partnerships
SA researchers and institutions will be actively promoted to their EU counterparts.
- Consolidating and mobilising towards supporting EU FP7
Activities under this objective are aimed at encouraging African aeronautics researchers to participate in FP7.
- Identifying and demonstrating mutual interest and benefit in R&D co-operation
The project will work towards creating a policy framework to allow stakeholders in the aeronautics and air transport research environment to meet and discuss issues of relevance to the respective communities, identify areas of co-operation, and define mechanisms to foster greater collaboration in addressing air transport.
